![]() ![]() The season 1 group are then exposed to the farm belonging to Hershel. Carl is shot relatively early on in the season by Otis, which stays true to the comics in every respect. In the second season of the televsion program, we begin with events that are similar in essence to the comics. ![]() CDC labs around the world were all working on it and failed. #RICK THE WALKING DEAD COMIC WIKIK SERIES#It's there to hammer home that this series isn't about finding out the origin of the virus or a cure. Focusing on the survivors reaching the CDC and talking to the last remaining scientist, the narrative is a fairly effective tool that addresses the spread of the zombie virus and how it physically causes the transformation. The whole of episode 6 was manufactured for the series. In the comics, Lori begrudgingly left Rick in the Hospital because there was a military presence and it seemed safe, but all civilians were ordered to relocate to Atlanta. The big difference in Lori's behavior seemed indefensible at first, but it is later revealed is that Shane told Lori that Rick was dead. In the show Shane and Lori have a prolonged affair, that is depicted as physically charged and passionate. They are both overwhelmed by their situation and find comfort in each other that one night while Carl is asleep in the car. They had arrived on the outskirts of Atlanta only to find the city had been overrun. In the comic, Shane and Lori's affair was a one night stand shown in a flashback. #RICK THE WALKING DEAD COMIC WIKIK TV#In the comics Rick and company do not encounter another large organized group of survivors until well into the Prison arc.Īnother aspect in the TV show different from the book centers on the dynamic between Rick, Shane and Lori. The latino gang, The Vatos, that have taken over a Hospital within Atlanta and protecting the edlerly and infirm within are a new creation for the television series. ![]() ![]() There are several other characters in the camp who remain nameless and are then killed in the zombie attack at the end of episode four. Other members of the group on the show but not present in the comics are T-Dog, Jacqui, Carol's husband Ed (who is allready dead by the time we meet her in the comics), Morales and his wife/kids (who may be fill in's for Allen and his wife Donna and their twin sons Billy and Ben). One major departure from the book is the introduction of the Dixon brothers, Merle and Daryl. The storyline strays somewhat from the comic, as the writers adapt the book while simultaneously attempting to put their own stamp on the material. Their characterisitcs are also somewhat different as "Comic Book Carol" seems a little more "broken and ditzy", while "TV Show Carol" appears to be more empowered and self sufficient. In the show, Carol is an older woman with very short dark hair. In the comic book, Carol is a somewhat younger blonde girl. However, one difference in casting in noticably different than the comics. The casting choices have received fairly positive feedback and some of the characters have even more depth on screen than their two dimensional counterparts. The crew behind AMC's The Walking Dead have done a stand-up job so far with their adaptaion of the Robert Kirkman comic series, and most seem to agree that the characters in the comics are represented quite well on screen. ![]()
